Each piece of writing on this website offers the following multiple access points:
- An audio track of the main article directly follows its title and byline.
- An audio track of the image descriptions, captions, and author bios directly follows the article’s audio.
- A sentence following the audio tracks says if that article has references or endnotes.
- The article text follows the two recordings.
- Image descriptions are embedded as alt-text tags and presented visually within the text layout following captions. “ID” introduces each in-text image description. To avoid repetition, TTSS only reads the alt-text tag.
- If present, references and endnotes follow the article text.
- Profiles of the artist and contributor complete each article layout.
- There is no audio track of the references and endnotes. To listen to them, navigate your TTSS to the heading “references” or “endnotes.” To read endnotes sequentially with TTSS, navigate on past the “Link, back to reference” option at the end of each note. If you do select “Link, back to reference,” TTSS will navigate you to the endnote number location in the main text.
- There are no hyperlinks within the main text. Instead, all links are placed in endnotes or lists of references for further reading at the end of each piece.
